Use this file to test the readability of text at different font sizes. The are two files:
TextTest_400umNozzle
Slice this file for a 0.4mm nozzle, with 0.2um layer height. This model is dimensioned for that specific layer height.
TextTest_250umNozzle
Slice this file for a 0.25mm nozzle, with 0.12um layer height. This model is dimensioned for that specific layer height.
How I printed this:
- PrusaSlicer 2.6.1, with up-to-date configuration (1 Oct 2023) and default settings, except for what is stated below.
- Infill set to 30%.
- G-Code for color change altered: I removed the 'prime after color change' line, so that only M600 is used.
- I added two small cubes. The upper-left cube primes the nozzle for the last layer, while the bottom-right cube ‘catches’ plastic melding that occurs at the start of a M600 filament change command. That leaves a little scare that I didn't want on my object. Make sure that the last layer starts with printing one cube, and finishes with the second cube. Unfortunately in PrusaSlicer you cannot specify the print order of objects (in non-sequential mode), so its a bit trial-and-error to get this happen. But with the position of the cubes in these .3mf files, I get it reliably slices like this.
- Printed on Prusa MK4 (no, MMU).
- Add ‘Color Change’ to very top layer.
- PETG filament (Prusament Mango Yellow and Matte Black) dried at 65C for at least 2 hours.
Use the file TextTest Design File in fusion 360 to alter the design to your needs. Layer Height and Nozzle Size can be changed via ‘Change Parameters’. I used 'ParametricText 2.3.0' fusion 360 add-in to alter text on the model automatically (for layer height and nozzle size).
I would LOVE to see all your results printing these tests.
