IKEA ALEX drawer extender (open more!)

I wanted my IKEA ALEX drawers to open a bit wider. Disassembled the sliders, brainstormed for a while and made this mod. This replaces the original ball bearing holder to make more room for sliding.

It opens around 1.5 Gridfinity units wider than stock. Not quite full open but definitely way better than stock. You can see the comparison in second picture.

To install the mod you will need to open the slider (picture #3). I recommend using a desk vice. It is possible to do with sturdy pliers but it needs some serious force. Bend it back and grease the rail after you're done.

Be careful when removing the balls. As you can see I lost some but it still moves fine.

Pros: 

• Opens more!

Cons: 

• Doesn't snap to close position anymore. Non issue compared to narrow opening before.
• Sags a little if you reinstall the rail on the cabinet side pointing downwards. Easily adjustable.
• Needs supports. Print it the same orientation that is in cover picture.
