Replacement Royal typewriter rollers

These are replacement rollers for a 1928 Royal Model P Typewriter. Included are the top rollers and both sets of bottom rollers. The bottom rollers are covered in 3/8in heat-shrink tubing. The rollers need replacing when they are worn down, creating a flat spot, or if the rubber cracks. This particular one had very little rubber left on most of the rollers with the last two pictures showing the deformed (partially flattened) back bottom roller. In order to replace the rollers you will need to cut off the old rubber after taking them off I found a pair of filament snips to work nicely. 

Top rollers: remove the top bar by taking out the 2 screws, one on either end, gently pry the bar out, and slid off the rollers be careful not to lose the metal parts which are a flat spring and the inner bushing. print the top rollers and press fit them onto the newly cleaned outer bushing. 

bottom rollers:  remove the platen (large roller in the center) by loosening the three set screws two on the right and one on the left and taking off the handles. Firmly push the bar out from left to right and pull the platen up and out. Undo the two screws in the back of the metal the platen sat in and gently remove them by pulling forward from the back. you should now see both bottom rollers once again remove the rubber. For the bottom back roller print, one and press fit it onto the newly cleaned roller bar. Then cut 3/8in heat-shrink tubing to length fit it on and heat it with a heat gun. For the bottom front roller print 2, press fit them onto ether end and repeat the process of adding heat shrink tubing. Reassemble all parts and have fun typing.
