Description

This design serves as both a door stopper and a door holder. Two magnets securely hold the door.

The center of the magnet in the door stopper is located 21.5mm above the floor. If you use double-sided tape for attachment, add its thickness. With the help of various extensions (10, 15, 20, 30, 50 mm), which can also be combined as desired, the height of the door stopper can be easily and flexibly adjusted.

Required material
  • Two round neodymium magnets. Diameter 30 mm, depth 5 mm.
Magnets with these dimensions are commonly found online.
I have found that they are often slightly smaller than stated, measuring 29 / 4.5 mm instead of 30 / 5 mm. That is acceptable; they just should not be larger.

  • Double-sided tape. Alternatively, suitable screws.

  • Optional: a bit of super glue.

Printing information

Fundamentals

Print one stopper, one lid, and one magnet holder each.
If you know the height at which the magnet holder will be attached to the door, you can decide whether and which extensions you need to print. You can find the dimensions of the stopper and extensions in the attached images.

  • Nozzle: 0.4
  • First layer: 0.20
  • Layer height: 0.10
  • Perimeter: 4
  • Infill: 15% (Gyroid)
  • Support: none

Key printing details

  • To insert a magnet, a printing pause at 7.20 mm must be defined in the slicer for the magnet holder.
During the printing pause, place a magnet centered in the magnet holder. Choose the magnet's orientation so that it adheres to the print bed.

  • To save time and material, the lid can also be printed with 10% infill and 3 perimeters because no increased stability requirements are necessary for it.

  • All printing specifications are based on using a 0.4 mm nozzle and 0.1 mm layer height. The design is optimized for these settings.

Assembly instructions

  1. Attach the magnet holder at the desired position on the door. You can use a strong adhesive double-sided tape for this. First, clean the area so that the maximum adhesion can be achieved.

  2. If you are using extensions for height, connect them to the stopper.
For optimal grip, you can use one or two drops of super glue for each connection.

  3. Find the spot on the floor where you attach the stopper so that when the door is opened, the magnet holder on the door aligns precisely with the stopper.

  4. If you have a smooth, sturdy floor, you can attach the stopper with strong adhesive double-sided tape.
If this attachment method doesn't hold, then you must screw the stopper into the floor. Either with a single screw through the middle hole in the stopper or with two screws through the two outer holes.

  5. Insert the second magnet into the stopper. Make sure to position it to align with the magnet on the door.

  6. Finally, slide the lid onto the stopper.
Do not use glue here, as it will prevent you from removing it, and you won't be able to access the screws if you ever need to remove the stopper.

I am looking forward to your Makes! :-)
