Description
Potential plastic pumpkin porch pirates will be held accountable when they are tracked via an Apple Airtag which is stealthily hidden in the battery compartment of said plastic pumpkin from Target. Last year, we had our plastic pumpkin stolen off our porch, and this year I thought we'd go partial-Mark-Rober and just track where it goes, if it gets stolen.
The included battery cover actually has a design flaw which prevents it from being re-installed, once you take it off. So even if you don't use an Airtag, this at least solves that problem. :)
In order for the ‘bump’ that holds the Airtag not to protrude too far down, I did make the wall something like 0.4mm thick right below it, so pretty thin. I printed it out of PETG and chose to put that thin wall below the Airtag on the build platform, such that the inside of the battery door (which would be the top as printed) is pristine and without support material marks. I also wanted the Airtag to easily snap in and out, so this made it possible.
So there you go, if this happens to fit your plastic pumpkin, enjoy!
