Ol' Reliable 8" Mitutoyo Caliper Case Plate

I had planned on printing this caliper case but realized it was for 6" calipers, while I had 8". I didn't want to get rid of the standard Mitutoyo case, so I designed this to attach to the top and be removable if I get tired of it later on.

Obviously it is based on the jellyfish net case from Spongebob:

The “Ol' Reliable Caliper Case Built-In Support” is designed to fit in a Bambu printer bed diagonally on edge with no supports, as shown:

All the overhangs on this back side are 60 degrees from vertical, which might be too much for your printer, but there is a bit of tolerance with the fit, so a rougher underside is fine.

All the letters on this side have a 45 degree overhang so they can print without any supports.

The file has a built in brim to print with better bed adhesion, but if you prefer to print it without that (or in some other orientation) use the “Ol' Reliable Caliper Case No Support” file. 

You don't need to print the letters if you want to just paint the inside of each letter opening, but the letters are recessed back from the surface of the case. If you print the letters, once glued in they will be flush with the surface.

The letters are all in one file and were designed to be printed with the front of the letter down, to give it some texture from the build plate. 

If you would rather, you can print them with the backs of the letters down toward the plate, and that should be fine, but there might be some areas of letters that are only a few lines thick (such as A, B, and R).

If you have a multimaterial-capable printer, you can print the “Ol' Reliable Caliper Case Multimaterial” file which has the files for the letters included to select multiple colors while printing.

There is 0.2 mm clearance in every direction for the letters, which is enough room for some super glue to attach the letters into the case. Once that is all glued up, I would suggest hot glue in the marked locations below, for easier removal later on if you don't like it any more.
