Description
Neonate BC-8000DV is probably one of the best video-babymonitor systems out there.
The babyunit (the one with the camera) came with a brilliant clip that enables you to mount the camera on different round surfaces such as the handle on the baby stroller, or the edge of the baby crib.
This worked great until my son got old enough that he could reach for the camera. First time he grabbed the camera the clip broke in several pieces as shown on the picture above.
Because of this I made a replacement clip for the babyunit that is easy to print. It comes in 9 pieces to keep the same functionality as the original.
The main parts for the clip, including the pins can be printed at the same time. I printed these using PLA with 0.2 mm layer height, 40% infill, and supports that touches the build plate.
The threaded pin and the screwing part on top I printed in PLA at 0.12 mm layer height, 20% infill with a brim for adhesion.
The last two parts, the inserts for the claw of the clip, I printed in TPU at 0.2 mm layer height, and 20% infill to give it the same smooth surface as the original part.
I recommend using ABS or PETG instead of PLA for stronger parts. I only printed this in PLA for proof of concept since I was out of PETG.
Assembly:
The parts are simply put together as shown in this photo:
The only thing that needs to be in the right order, is the large pin in the bottom part of the clip, needs to be inserted before the threaded rod is put through the entire model.
Optional: Use a drop of glue in the following places to ensure that the following parts stick together (note that the bottom insert and the threaded rod will have a thight fit without the glue):
Notes:
I've included both the .f3d file and .step file in case anyone wants to make their own version.
Happy printing!
