Description
Hey there! I made this parametric lens cover in fusion 360 for my girlfriend's camera (Nikon D3100). I could copy this lid due to the lucky fact that my brother has the same camera! However, taking into consideration that this original part is made by injection molding, i encouraged myself and decided to adjust the model (regarding to the mechanism) to be printable because there were too many tiny parts that couldn't be made with FDM technology.
In my case i used a 0.6mm nozzle, PLA and 0.1mm layer height, but i recommend using 0.2mm nozzle (or less) and PETg because you are going to achieve better results. When it comes to the springs, i made a printable model but i think it would be nice to make them with a piece of steel wire because they are not strong enough (at least PLA springs). Supports needed.
Some things to take into consideration:
This is not an easy print, you must print this parts slow (20-30mm/sec), low layer height (0.1 - 0.15mm), you will need to have a good filament and a very small nozzle (the smaller, the better) and last but not least your printing settings should include 5 or more top layers and little invasive supports, some times you have to try! Please take note about this recomendations before printing, i repeat, this is not an easy print!
My first print of this model wasn't a good one but it finally worked (some times i had to sand it). You have to be patient and find the best settings that adjust to your printer. I dont have a Prusa so i don't know how it would be to print with those machines but im sure they will achieve a nice looking of this models!
