Description
This model is an adapter to mount jomjol's excellent AI-on-the-edge project to a Sensus iPerl water meter. I've tested this adapter only on a 3/4" model and do not know whether it would fit other sizes.
The adapter replaces the hinged lid from the water meter and allows the AI-on-the-edge project to be pivoted out of the way to allow access to the water meter. The meter's hinged lid can be removed with a (very) firm pull while in the fully open position to install this adapter. (Pay attention to the direction of the cut out hinge inside the lid.)
The adapter is a snug fit and is not perfect… but it fits “good enough” for my use, and I stopped iterating on the design :-) It works great for mounting a 5cm tube, the top box, and the ESP32-CAM case to my water meter, producing reliable readings. Note that I followed the installation instructions and broke the ESP32-CAM lens glue to manually adjust the focus depth.
Printing
I printed this adapter in PETG using nearly the settings of the attached .3mf file. The orientation is “upside down” compared to the eventual installation, with supports on only the flat circular surface from which the tube attachment cleats protrude. The .3mf file includes an untested change to print the entire cleats as solid base layers (instead of perimeters + infill) since I broke one of my cleats off of my print while removing support material and believe solid layers would have made for stronger layer adhesion at that joint. Oops!
