After building the LEGO Concorde, I had nowhere to put it. At just over a meter long, it needed to go on the wall. So, I designed this mount to both get it off of the table, and to display it at a dynamic angle where you are able to appreciate all of the details of the model. You can even put the landing gear down while it's mounted! it uses the same mounting hole as the stand included with the model, so it is easy to put up and take down, while still being secure.
Assembly and Mounting Instructions:
- The model requires two Hangman BearClaw hangars, or similar.
- The keyholes on the model are specifically designed to flush-mount with these hangars. Other drywall screws or hangars may work, ymmv.
- Print all three pieces in the orientation provided in the 3MF with Structural Settings
- I printed in PETG and used 4 walls (0.6mm inner walls width) with 0.3mm layer height, 7% infill.
- The LEGO Concorde weighs in at 4lbs (1.8kg), so structural print settings are recommended over cosmetic-focused ones. Plus, the mount is not easily visible when viewing from the front.
- PLA should be adequate, but may creep or sag over time given the high constant load. I would periodically check a PLA mount for warping if you choose to print in PLA.
- Mount the two hangars vertically aligned, with 30mm of vertical separation
- See the wall mounting hole profile below. The critical dimension is the 30mm vertical hole spacing between the two hangars.
- Place the angled mount on the wall, then insert the pin and the fuselage holder over the pin.
- See below for an example of how the three parts fit together on the wall.
- Place your LEGO Concorde on the wall!
Want a different angle/position? The F3D file is also included, so you can change it to your hearts content :).
Please post a picture if you print this out, I'd love to see other people's models!
