Description

Update March 20, 2021:# I just got informed that I messed up the file names. the top bracket is for bottom and the bottom one is for top. It should not make much of a difference except for the installation text below is a little off. The whole process still works!

This is a remixed version of the MIAGI that pseudo6626 has designed for the Artillery Sidewinder X1, based off of the idea for the HevORT project (see this: https://youtu.be/mqSQhwqSzvg?t=835). The general idea is to use them instead of the blue flex couplers found on the stock machines to reduce z wobble introduced by bent leadscrews but still maintaining accurate z positioning (which the stock couplers do not guarantee). I use them in combination with POM anti-backlash nuts and even the CoBra mod (look in my other designs) on top of the leadscrews.

I redesigned the general shape to make it a bit more appealing and adapted the holes and cutouts for the screws and magnets.

What you need to install these:

20 pcs 1,8x8mm magnets
6 pcs 7mm steel balls (ideally from ball bearings, I use paint agitator balls for dropper bottles)
16 pcs M3 hexnuts
16 pcs M3x8mm bolts

Important note: Take care to get all the magnets poles lined up correctly. They should all attract each other. Best to mark each magnets north/south pole before installation.

The top and bottom part differ only a little bit: I used a stack of two magnets in the three ball bearing touching pockets on the lower brackets to ensure that they have a strong force on the balls and do stay in contact to the ball and the most upper magnet from the top bracket. Those "sandwiches" should always stay in contact. If they separate after install check for magnet strength and polarity.
