UPDATE 26.10.23:
I added files for 4010 radial fans instead of the 4007 fans in the stock version. The tape application has to be done differently for those 4010 fans. Use also 2 mm EPDM tape but do not apply any tape at the top or bottom of the fan but instead on the vertical sides, except for the outlet side, obviously. if the outlet isn't sealed up sufficiently use some insulation tape to seal up the edges of the fan towards the filter. The rest of the assembly should e similar.

Introduction

The SEPARATOR air purification system (https://www.printables.com/model/590107-separator-air-purification-system-for-voron-24) purifies air with active carbon and blows it from the above the bed in the front of the chamber below the bed. These add-on modules, add air particle filtration to the system and pull the air from below the bed at the back and blow it in a quasi laminar flow up the back panel, for better air circulation. 



Print instructions

Print top down. Make sure your settings are suited for printing overhangs and bridges well. No supports are needed. Each module prints as single piece. 

Compatibility

The height of the modules is 26 mm. So they extend 6 mm above the bed extrusion profiles. Before buying any parts, I would recommend printing out the filter bodies and testing the spacial requirements of your sytem. The central filter module should be compatible with all standard Voron 2.4 sizes, if there are no mods in the way. There should be no risk of clashes there. The side modules only fit on 350 mm Voron 2.4 builds. The tolerances towards the A and B motors are tight. If your z-homing is done in a way that the nozzle is not moving below the bed it should be fine. But test the tolerances of your own system carefully to make sure there can not be any crash under normal use. 

 

Assembly

Prepare the fans by cutting away protruding plastic parts as shown below (left: before, right: afterwards)

Cut the 2mm EPDM tape to the right width so that it can be rapped around the exhaust side like in the images below, without blocking the fan inlet. Make sure the cables are guided through the tape ring as shown. Add two short strips of tape on the back side. Leave the space between free of tape to allow air movement to both side of the fan in the assembled unit.

Start inserting the fan into the module body by guiding the two cables through the exhaust segment that aligns with the narrow slit in the body that allows the cable to get to the underside. Subsequently guide the cable through that slit. Carefully insert the tilted fan into the bottom of the body. Once in place, press it gently down and move it into the exhaust slit until it is filling out that slit with the EPDM foam. Repeat this with all three fans. 

 

Finally cut the cables as needed and combine all positive and all negative cables. The space is designed to fit WAGO clamps. To keep them in press fit add some insulation tape to the sides as needed.

Pull the filter out of the original hard plastic housing (the housing can be discarded) and subsequently insert it into the module. The lash should be on the outside. 

The modules can be installed afterwards with M3 screws and M3 t-nuts. The modules are connected to the bed profiles and the back bottom profile of the frame. 


Connect the fans to the controller board. Make sure to set the voltage of the fan outlet correctly. I configured the fans as controller_fan, starting when stepper motors move or the bed heater is turned on.

For one module the following parts are needed (multiply everything by 3 for 3 modules)

1x particle filter for Xiaomi Mijia STYJ02YM (eg: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005005418055361.html)
