Original Prusa MK3S+/MK4S Spool Holder Adapter for IKEA Lack Enclosure

I wanted to use the original Prusa spool holder with my IKEA enclosure because the original holder has minimal resistance, making it ideal for smooth filament feeding.

Previously, I had printed a different spool holder, which functioned well but was quite noisy—something I wasn’t happy with. To address this, I designed a 3D model that allows me to use the original spool holder. The pictures show Version 1 (V1) of my design. Initially, I intended to use it the other way around, but the MK4 guiding tool didn’t fit that configuration, so I reversed the orientation.

Here’s my recommendation based on your setup:

• If you plan to use the spool holder without the filament guide, print V1.

• If you plan to use the spool holder with the filament guide, print V2.

For my setup, I printed the parts in black Sunlu PLA with organic supports for the overhangs.

Update 1:

I’ve added a Lite version for V2, which is untested but should work fine if you want to save material.

Update 2:

Added adapters to replace the original wide PTFE tube with a 1.75mm PTFE tube for improved filament guidance. I encountered an issue where the filament created grooves in the original PTFE guides, leading to friction and noise. This new solution resolves the problem.

Additionally, I recommend rotating the filament guide 180 degrees to lower its height for better alignment.
