Portal Key from The Owl House

This is a screen-accurate model of the portal key from The Owl House.

Printing

I designed this with SLA printing in mind. The key has some fine details and the shape isn't great for FDM.

You'll get the best results with SLA, but you can try different orientations or splitting the models to get a good FDM print.

Assembly

You need two things in addition to your to printed parts to complete assembly:

• 3.25mm brass rod cut to 105mm
• 30mm eyeball

The brass rod adds weight and a lot of strength. This part is not optional.

If you do not want to buy a 30mm glass eye, you can print the TOH Portal Key Eye Blank file and apply a decal or paint to make your own eye. I strongly recommend the glass eye because it looks much nicer and adds depth to the eye.

If you can't find an eye you like, that's OK! You can get a blank glass eye or remove the decal to make your own. The image is usually just adhesive vinyl at the bottom of the glass dome. I ultimately went this route. My key (see in the photos) is a screen-accurate eye graphic under a blank glass “eye.”
