Description
Well, blue status LEDs are always annoyingly bright. But the Dream Router/Dream Machine has reached a new level of annoyance: Not only does it have the highest brightness level LEDs I've ever seen - it even has its LEDs built into the router's air outlet, so taping them would mean to overheat the device.
Solution to this problem is to use a lampshade-like attachment that shields and/or diffuses the blue light but keeps enough distance to the router's enclosure to grant ventilation.
I recommend to print the shade using a somewhat transparent material. In my case I used white LW-ASA and zero infill, but use whatever filament you like - the router gets warm but not hot in operation, so PLA is ok as well as anything else. The shade is designed to be printed with a single perimeter wall of 0.6 mm and an arbitrary amount of infill, but keep in mind that the infill will be visible in operation (so most infill types will look a little baroque).
After printing no post-processing is required - just print it and use it (unless you want to use the added support pieces).
The optional added supports (red arrow) don't have to be used if the router stands in a place where it is unlikely to be accidentally touched. If you want to use them, print three pieces and glue them to the shade from underneath. However, print them all at once (not sequentially since they would get too hot due to the narrow tips).
Obviously, as I have no control of what you do with these files, use them at your own risk and responsibility.
