Description

Info

This is a part cooling system made by this guy along with my approach on hotend Neopixels.

You will need

  • 5 Neopixels similar to this one - Single Breakout Neopixel
  • a motherboard that can support Neopixels
  • Soldering Iron
  • a 3-wire ribbon cable with a connector to fit your motherboard
  • ready to tweak some firmware stuff
  • Insulation tape

Installation

  • On the blower side, you screw it to your blower fan, the same way the stock blower vent is installed.
  • On the other side, it holds to the fan box with a small chamfer, make sure to slide it in.
  • The leds are seated into their slots and then soldered with small wires . You can even hot-epoxy glue them to the printed but, but this makes it impossible to transfer them to a new print.
  • Cover the wires with some insulation tape. The fan box is metal and could short your leds.
  • If you are using Skr e3 mini you have to change a small jumper on the motherboard to power the leds. Here is the SKR documentation that shows the jumper.

Firmware

  • I am using marlin and i had to enable neopixels and flash again
  • If you are using an SKR mini e3, you can follow this github solution to get the leds working. This solution implements this improved Neopixel library
