Description
Replacement holding ring for 22L version of IKEA HÅLLBAR rubbish bin. The ring is too big for most household 3D printers, thus this model is split into parts which should be glued together.
The ring is made of two parts: ring portion and a joint cookie. Each part should be printed four times. I highly recommend using PETG as the ring should be elastic to an extent. It is also important to have your printer set up to print dimensionally accurate results.
The ring should be glued together with epoxy glue/resin. Sand, and clean cookie surfaces, and test the fit before glueing. Cookies have a narrow side, this side should be between ring parts. Wide side should go inside ring parts.
Apply epoxy according to manufacturer recommendations to both cookie and ring part. I would suggest using slightly thicker layer for epoxy to fill layer lines and make a stronger bond Insert cookie into a ring part, then attach other ring part to it. Clean the outter surface with isopropyl alcohol and clamp the joint. Wait until epoxy cures.
I would recommend using slow setting (20-30 minute) epoxy so that all parts can be glued together in one go without rushing. Gluing everything at once will also ensure that all parts are aligned correctly.
