⭐ UPDATE March 2026: I have decided to change the license to Attribution only, which now allows for Commercial use.
Additionally many people have printed this with no supports without an issue. It's your call if you think your printer can handle it or not.
My art of choice is street art or graffiti. I paint exclusively with spray.
This is an elegant design for a simple job. Hold your colors while you head to your spot.
I tried to eliminate the need for supports as much as possible. My first couple prints, I sliced this with just the joints and handle being supported. My third print and any future prints will be handle only support, which is only possible in Prusa Slicer. See ⬇below⬇ for more details.
Although this was designed with aerosol cans in mind. It can hold other cylindrical items. Energy Drink cans fit, and glass bottles! 🍺 Cheers!
You will need a printer that can print models that are 160 x 240, and a height of 250.
📝 Note: If your Z Max is 250, don't forget to drop your Z Axis after the print before turning off your machine. Some printers will not allow you to move Z down without homing, and home moves Z up to perform. This will cause a crash at Z max which may result in the need to re-execute bed leveling.
I recommend using PLA+ to print this. PLA+ has limited warping during print, and also provides impact resistance not found in PLA or PETG. Due to the thin nature of this design impact resistance will be a bigger factor than strength.
Prusa Store has PLA+ in 4 skin colors as on 11/2023: https://www.prusa3d.com/product/filament-pm-pla-skin-477c-1kg/ If you would like to explore more colors, I would recommend Overture's PLA+ named PLA Professional and Super PLA+.
Using a smaller layer height such as 0.15 or 0.2 will drastically improve your print. This is due to each layer having an overhang. The smaller your layers are the less supports you will need.
Slicing this in Prusa Slicer is my recommendation. Prusa Slicer has a feature not in Cura Slicer, which is paint on support. In Prusa Slicer paint a small support line under the handle. Select Organic supports and deselect automatic supports. This will give you the single support as show.
Cura Slicer does better at putting the supports automatically, but cannot support the handle only. Setting the overhead angle to 60% should get you to supporting only the joints. Cura doesn't have the ability to be selective about where to place your supports, so I do recommend Prusa Slicer. This will still work, but just take longer to print and waste more material.
