Description
When 3D printing, you will inevitably be left with empty filament spools. Since they are hard to recycle, one of the options is to repurpose them. Here's a simple way to do so if you're into miniature painting.
…to print:
1 spool holder
2 Citadel paint holders
…have beforehand:
1 empty 1 kg spool
some super glue
Since I mostly use Trček's filament, this model is made to work with the spools they use. Those spools have an outer diameter of 200 mm and an inner diameter of 53 mm. Be sure to measure your spools to see if they would work with this model before printing.
The spool slides easily onto the spool holder, and with some super glue, you can attach the paint holders to the spool. The top of the spool holder is threaded, so you can stack them without knocking them down accidentally. Seven brushes can also be stored in the spool holder.
This system works well with 12 ml and 18 ml Citadel paint bottles. The 24 ml Citadel paint bottles should fit as well, but they might be more tricky to put, depending on the spool.
