Description
Are you in need of a way to store your Vallejo paint or paint from other companies using the same D25mm bottle? This might be a solution.
Originally inspired by one of the videos over at Tested where Adam savage builds a set of Model paint storage racks for his paint. While the design of the racks look great, one of the biggest problems i hade with the design was how the paint bottles were pulled out by lifting them up. While the way to remove and insert the bottles works it isnt the best way, at least to me.
My own design heavily inspired by the racks made by Adam uses clamps to hold onto the bottles, hard enough that the paint wont easily fall out if the stand is tilted or flipped upside down but not hard enough to damage the bottles or making you have to use force to pull them out.
Originally the racks were made out of 3mm laser cut acrylic sheets, with the clamps being the only 3D printed parts. As can be seen in the pictures the rack can be fully 3D printed as well.
Three base models are included, an 2x4 with two floors onto wish 4 bottles per row fits, a 2x8 and 3x8. Stls for every part is included, DXF files for the two wall variants as well bottom, middle and top floor in the two different length options. A PDF is also included in case you want to make the rack out of wood.
Print setting?
Only setting that you should keep in mind if you print a rack is that when printing the clamps use 2 perimeters only, this is to ensure the clamps are able to flex slightly but also to make sure that the slicer will slice the part correctly.
For the walls and floors you can print them with really any settings that you want, as can be seen in the picture its possible to print it using zero top and bottom solid layers.
Supports are not needed but brims can be useful when printing the handles.
Assembly
Assembly is straight forward, glue is recommended and some light sanding might be needed.
Hope whomever decide to make one finds them as useful as I have.
