Holiday Candy Cane Vase / Lantern

Brighten up your holiday decor with this sweet candy cane vase with optional insert you can print in multiple colors to add candy stripes using a single nozzle.

Print your choice of the large or small candy cane outer shell (or both) and add a striped insert to create a fun multi-color holiday decoration.

Some organic support may be needed at the very top of the candy cane cutouts depending on your printer and the filament. Some filaments printed well without supports for me (the dark green), while others had rough edges on the tops of the cutouts (the silks).

Fun Tip: Add a tea light for an interesting candy cane lighting effect.

Here are the setting I used, but feel free to make your stripes however you like!

Large candy cane vase insert settings (fewer color swaps):
I used a 0.20 layer height and changed colors every 90 layers
White: 0-89, 180-269, 360-449 
Red: 90-179, 270-359, 450-

If you're using a different layer heights, swap colors approximately every 18mm.

Small candy cane vase insert settings (more swaps = more fun!):
Here are the setting I used, but feel free to make your stripes however you like!

I used a 0.24 layer height and changed colors every 30 layers
White: 0-29, 60-89, 120-149, 180-209, 240-269, 300-329, 360-389,  420- 
Red: 30-59, 90-119, 150-179, 210-239, 270-299, 330-359, 390-419

If you're using a different layer heights, swap colors approximately every 7.2mm.
