Description

Yeelight Pro is a great addition to the workplace with a computer. It can illuminate the area with keyboard in front of the monitor and behind the monitor.

It is installed by hooking it behind the top edge of the monitor. The heavy metal foot has an adhesive weight function and with the help of springs in the joint ensures that the light is fixed and becomes stable.

That's how Huawei have worked it out on conventional monitors.


But... my monitor is already quite "thick" from the top edge and the light didn't want to stick on it. It had a tendency to fall forward into the space in front of the monitor.

That's why I created this upgrade kit to ensure that even on a fatter monitor, the light will stick perfectly.

I have tested it on my monitor "45" Philips 45B1U6900CH/00", I have no other similar monitor to test, but I assume it will work.
 

On the back I added a groove for a zip tie to secure the USB-C cable that powers the light.
On the original part this option is missing and the supplied, rather stiff, cable then sticks out in an arc into the space and it doesn't look nice.

How to print:

I have decided that PLA is a sufficient material. I used the Prusament Silver that came with my MK3S+ printer.

How to apply the upgrade kit:

(When assembling and reading the subsequent lines, look at the attached pictures to see what goes where.)


First you need to peel off the round silver stickers that cover the axle with a knife or scalpel. Push the axle out with something similarly thick. The axis is 2mm in diameter and 55mm long.
You will need to make one more of the same axle. I used 2mm brass wire. But it could be anything else. Aluminium, steel, carbon fibre. You can also make it out of copper wire. There's not much force on the axle so the material can be softer.

Then connect the original plastic part (with the USB-C connector) to the newly printed upgrade kit. Use the new washer you have prepared for the connection.
When putting it on, make sure that the ends of the 2 springs protruding from the pallet body of the light fit well into the holes in the new part.

Then connect the original metal base to the newly printed upgrade kit.

Optional steps:

Use the smaller ZIP tape and push it through the groove on the back of the printed part.
Once you plug the USB-C cable into the light, use the zip tie to secure the cable so it doesn't float.
