Description
Portable and lightweight DIY power supply with 5-30V input and 0.5-30V, 4A output.
Parts to buy.
Print.
The photos show the “walls14” model that I printed, it means that it has 1.4 mm walls. I found that the sides with the vent holes are not as hard as I expected, at least when printed with PETG, this is why I also designed the “walls20” model that has 2.0 mm walls to replace my current model if/when I finally break it :) Please note that I did not print the “walls20” version yet, if you have any problems with it, please report.
Test and configure retract settings before printing - there will be a lot of retracts due to many vent holes in this model. The vent holes should be enough for passive cooling of the device, however, the producer of the ZK-4KX recommends to use an external fan if the current exceeds 3A during long periods.
Print time is around 6 hours for the “walls14” model on Ender3V2 (it should be faster for direct drive printers due to shorter retracts). Plastic consumption is 40 grams.
Operation.
In mode 2 you can use not only AC-DC adapters but any power source with 5-30V voltage that you have at hand, for example four AA batteries or a car battery or maybe even a solar panel or a wind power generator… But some cheap USB adapters don't work with my XK-4KX because the input voltage drops below 4.8V under load and the device turns off. I think this device prefers input 5.5V or more for stable work.
