Description
This is a protective terminal cap for use on standard 9V batteries.
Each protective cap uses less than a single gram of plastic. Printed at 0.2 layer height and 15% infill, mine used only 0.87 grams.
For our city, when we recycle batteries, we are asked to put electrical tape over the terminals before putting them in a zip lock bag so they don't short circuit. Instead of using tape like a caveman, of course I designed, modeled and printed these protective caps instead ;-).
Despite there being a standard for terminal sizes and spacing, there is just enough +/- in the spec standard (and printer tolerances) that the caps fit some brands of 9V batteries slightly better than others. As-is it fits at least 3 brands I have in our house, but it fits more snugly on some brands than others. I may continue to tweak the design ever so slightly in the future to try to improve the fit even further. Let me know if there is a brand of battery you try that doesn't fit well and I'll see what I can do.
