Description

This is a compact Ball Bearing Spool Holder for the Ender 3. Fits all standard 1kg Spools. You'll need 2 608 Roller Bearings (8x22x7), an M8 x 90 Bolt, and a matching Nut... That's it! There are five files for the printed parts:

  • Barrel
  • Spacer Rod
  • End Cap - Shim*
  • Mounting Nut*
  • Barrel End

* These files contain two Parts printed at the same time that are glued together with CA or your adhesive of choice. The assembly process goes as follows:

  1. Press fit one Bearing into one end of the Barrel
  2. Put the M8 Bolt through the End Cap and Shim glued together earlier
  3. Insert the M8 Bolt into the Bearing end of the Barrel
  4. Slip the Spacer Rod over the M8 Bolt
  5. Place the second Bearing on the M8 Bolt and press-fit into the Barrel end
  6. Place the Spool End on the M8 Nut (raised portion toward the Bearing)
  7. Have ready an M8 Nut and the Mounting Nut (glued together earlier)
  8. Attach the Roller Assembly to your Spool Holder
    • Note: The orientation of the Mounting Nut for stock Ender Spool Mount, or wider for some printed Spool Mounts (see pics)
  9. Adjust Tension at the End Cap to roll smoothly with a loaded spool; Do not over tighten!

*** Update 11/25/23: Increased length of the Spacer Rod by 1 mm to prevent uneven pressure on bearing when over tightened. The new file is Spacer Rod 2.stl
