#0110 STRONG Round Split Key Ring [3 sizes] - Meets the Demands of Everyday Use!

First I took on the challenge of creating a STRONG split key ring for everyday use, not just for light duty - the small size was tested to withstand 60+ lbs.

Then I optimized it for an EVEN STRONGER split key ring that was stronger AND used less material - the small size was tested to withstand 90+ lbs.

Now, since key rings are round by default, this one completes the collection.  I didn't do a pull test since that was not my intention for this one. But suffice it to say that it is STRONG, and will serve you well in everyday use, because it has the same locking features as the other ones.

Three sizes and two clearances (0.18mm and 0.25mm) are provided.

1. Small - 25mm inner diameter
2. Medium - 30mm inner diameter
3. Large - 35mm inner diameter

How to use: (see the GIF, above, to learn how it works).

     Step 1: To open, slide the Dovetail sideways to release it.

     Step 2: Open up the ring like a “Slinky” toy as shown in the GIF.

     Step 3: Slide the key (or any object that fits) through the opened ends.

     Step 4: To close, collapse the Dovetail (outer) end together FIRST, then collapse the inner and outer rings together, and snap the Endtail in place LAST.

Recommendations:

1. Print in ABS/ASA/PC.
2. Place (paint on) the seam away from the dovetail area - preferably on the inside surface of the inner ring, close to what is shown below.

1. 3 vertical walls, 5 top and 5 bottom layers, 20% infill.
2. Avoid PLA - because normal everyday use means it will eventually end up inside a hot car somewhere…heat does not play nice with PLA.
3. A slight bit of welding at the gaps are expected in some cases.  Just twist and bend the ring a few times to break the welds loose in the gaps.
4. Beware of using PETG - why?  PETG has a tendency to weld strongly to itself, so for the parts with only a 0.18mm gap between the inner and outer rings, you will have a harder time breaking the welds loose if your printer is not that well calibrated.  If you want to test your luck, give it a shot anyway! But you'll likely have more success printing with the 0.25mm clearance versions using PETG.
