Important

Make sure to print in vase mode! Place models with the grid down on the print bed. Bottom shell thickness should not exceed .9mm.

Design choices

I recently ordered from Recycling Fabrik and with every spool of their very beautiful filament they sent me a small desiccant container filled with silica gel (see last picture) (you can find their model here). I wanted something similar but in larger size to fit into my spools for storage. Although I found some models on Printables, I decided to design it from scratch for parameterization and to have it with a snap-on cap instead of a screw-on cap which most of the models have.

I found the 45mm diameter to be a good fit for almost all my filament spools. It uses only around 11g of filament including the lid, which snaps on tightly. Height measurement includes cap. Last picture with model from Recycling Fabrik for size comparison.

50 & 60 mm diameters were added on request.

My print settings
  • Vase mode!
  • 0.4mm nozzle, 0.6mm line width, 0.3mm layer height, 3 bottom shell layers. I printed these with transparent PETG from extrudr.
  • Orca Slicer, printed on Sovol SV06
