Overview

This is a printable compact drill bit storage tube that neatly holds your 1.0mm to 8.0mm drill bits in 0.5mm increments, totalling 15 drill bits.

The lid features a print-in-place spring detent mechanism that clicks into place to help line up and lock the lid in place when selecting the desired drill bit size.

Simply rotate the lid clockwise until the pointer arrow points to the drill bit size you’re after and tip the tube to extract the drill bit. The same process is performed in reverse to load the drill bits.

UPDATE - 20/NOV/2023

This model is now available in a print-in-place version and a discrete component version. Depending on the printer and the print settings, the print-in-place model may require some force to loosen up the mechanism. The discrete component version is less sensitive to these variables and may be easier to print.  

The discrete component version features built-in fastening mechanisms and requires no additional components or fasteners. Simply click the lid into the main body and off you go!

Assembly:

Print-in-place version

No assembly required! The lid mechanism may need some force to free up after printing. Wedging a thin spudger between the lid and the main body helps loosen the lid. Once loose, rotate the lid a few times to wear it in until the lid spins freely. 

Discrete component version

• Loosen the spring detent on the lid component by gently applying force to it latterly until it breaks away from the surface below it. It should spring back freely when pushed inwards.

• Line up the arrow on the lid with any one of the drill bit positions and insert the lid shaft into its corresponding central hole in the main body as shown. Apply force until the lid clicks thoroughly into place.

• Done! The lid should now spin freely and click into a detent for each selected drill bit size.
