Description

These curbs were designed for 1/10 and 1/12 on road cars but can be easily scaled up or down for larger scales or to make something like a mini-z track.

Curbs are 5.5mm high, with a 75 degree slope to cause minimal disruption to cars.  They will slow a car down but do not cause it to flip or bounce off the curb.

These are designed to be snap together with a sacrificial connector piece, but the connector piece also comes out so there is no need for male or female specific pieces.  This allows the curb to be used as a single piece with two ends, half radius, horse shoe, or a full circle.

The tolerance of the connector is very tight, if your printer makes them too large you may need to adjust the size by 0.05-0.10 to fit.  It's intended they will snap together firmly and in our testing they hold up very well but you can also add tape along the seams on the bottom to increase strength or if you want them to be more permanent, CA glue.

There is a 1.5mm relief in the bottom for adding thin velcro, this makes them stick very well to CRC black carpet, office carpet, etc.

More shapes and sizes coming.

If you want to design your own it's very easy, they are 80mm wide and 5.5mm tall.  Create a rectangle with this base dimension and add your length, then draft them 75 degrees.

Next revision of these will have a better connector, the bowtie works but needs to be wider - it is the weak point of the design.

For best results I suggest printing with:

  • PLA, or PETG if you find they break too easily.
  • Textured PEI Plate (heated)
  • Vented chamber (or open air)
  • 0.08mm layer height.
  • 15-25% infill (infill to taste, 10 is also fine, just makes them a little flexible.)
  • Support on.
  • For the connector pieces, printing with 100% infill is recommended.  If your printer prints somewhat oversized, scale these down or find the remixed version that is slightly smaller.
  • Glue them together with CA if you need more durability.

Right now there are 7 pieces:

  • 100-00001 Bowtie Connector - this is used for connecting the parts, you need 2 per.
  • 100-00002 450mm dia circle 0.25 - 4 of these will make a 450mm diameter circle.
  • 100-00003 450mm dia tow plate - this is the end piece needed to finish a curb.
  • 100-00004 200mm straight - this is a 200mm length of straight.
  • 100-00005 90 degree curve - this is a short 90 degree turn.
  • 100-00006 1 meter radius 100mm - this is a 100mm length of slightly bent curve, 8 of these will make 1 meter radius.
  • 100-00007 100mm straight - this is a 100mm length of straight, good for creating a little pace.
  • If you find the bowties to be tight (depends on printer, material) use these with a radius at the edges:

Message me if you have any questions or have feedback or suggestions.

A thicker version is now available, these are 10.5mm thick:
