The long awaited Darning Mushroom v2! (tDM2)
The purpose of tDM2 is to fix two key issues with tDM1:
- Width of the stalk - v1 had enough space for just needles; sure, you could fit a rubber band or two in there but they don't come out very easy without taking a couple other needles with them
- Rubber band accessibility - v1 uses the stalk as the stop for the rubber bands. This is flawed due to the width of the stalk, causing most rubber bands to be double or triple looped to maintain strong hold. As well, taking the rubber band off or using it to hold thread ‘tails’ proves fairly difficult to do without some picking and struggling
tDM2 addresses both of these issues head on!
- A wider stalk with a cone shaped bottom (no more odd ribs) means there is more storage space than ever before for both rubber bands and needles!
- The mushroom cap itself now contains a rubber band groove for easier fabric banding, as well as a finger groove to easily grab the band for any adjustments you may want to make!
- UPDATE: a new style of mushroom cap is available - at the cost of wider options
- BONUS: the number of supports needed has been reduced, as the internal threads of the mushroom cap are able to be printed w/o them
Printing:
Both models require only external supports. You will have to paint off internal supports again, depending on your slicer settings, but the internals do not need them. This work has been done for you already in the provided 3MF and GCODE files.
- Layer Height: ≤ 0.2mm
- Infill: ≥ 5%
- Supports: Yes, Organic, Build Plate Only
