Description
I needed lots of keyhole covers and door handle covers after purchasing new doors. I printed these and didn't think about it much until the first one broke 3 years later. Not too shabby, the mechanics aren't very tolerant and break fairly easily but they don't get very rough handling when mounted on a door.
I wrote the openscad code like 10 years ago, so it's probably ugly. But the design works.

Notes:
I printed the original ones in white PLA directly on warm glass, which gives a nice clean glossy finish. The one in the picture was printed on some fairly worn and torn buildtak, so the finish isn't that great. But it was for a 5 year old's door, and he wanted it right away, in blue, so we made it and he's happy. Polish/paint as you like, I've lifted mine off the build surface and inserted them directly.Â
Print them as they are, without support. The overhanging edges may curl up a little as you print, but it seems to work out eventually anyway. People won't know you've 3D printed the keyhole covers unless they are looking specifically, or if you tell them. Or if you use far-out colours.Â
