Description
Attach to broom stick to reach way out there to clear the entire truck windshield. Supports universal broom connector with 17.5x5 mm / .69" threads. Or use a 24" wooden paint roller stick for compact cars with limited space. The lighted version has slots to stick coin cell batteries and LEDs for emergency light. I'm working on more permanent lighting. But this works with double-stick tape for the novelty factor.
It's dark for most of the Winter here in Alaska. So lighted anything is good. The bigger problem with scrapers, during our record snow and ice storms, is chipping ice and snow around side doors, mirrors, and windows so it doesn't wind up in the car or on your hands.
Most cars don't have a shovel in the survival kit. This could go in a pack even, for camping. You never know when you might need a one-handed shovel to dig yourself out of an avalanche.
A lot of thought went into this design. There are scrapers on all 4 sides. The beveled corners are important, to avoid damaging rubber seals around doors and wipers. It has a ridge to catch dust. The scoop is angled to release snow. The bottom has ridges to avoid adhering permanently to the 3D printer build surface. It is angled such that it requires no supports with 250% extrusion width or more.
Print using PETG for temperature resistance, in case somebody leaves it on the dashboard in the hot sun. PLA might warp under the defroster too. PETG is also more shatter resistant. I use 75% speed and .3mm layer height.
