Description

A simple Hepa & Activated Carbon Filter & Fan Box I created for my custom made 3D Printer enclosure.

There are several similar prints here but none of them fitted my 3D printer enclosure design or I could not find the required filters, so I decided to design my own.

Designed to fit any 120x25mm computer case fan and the Levoit LV-H128-RF filter (https://www.temu.com/goods.html?goods_id=601099527542532) or any other filter with max size 171x120mm to a 5-6mm panel.

There is also space for a 2mm metal pre-filter between the the fan and it's cover (https://www.temu.com/goods.html?goods_id=601099523198967).

All parts print easily without supports and if your printer's extrusion is calibrated they snag firmly together. You will only need to glue the fan support (I wanted to avoid supports) and some M3 screws and insert nuts:

  • 8 M3 insert nuts and 8 M3x12mm screws to bolt the filter box to the panel and
  • 8 M3x6mm screws to secure the fan cover (if your printer is calibrated you don't really need them :))

4 out of the 8 screws that attach the filterbox to the panel are also holding the filterbox cover in place while the other 4 only attach to the panel. That way, you can only remove the cover in order to inspect or replace the filter while the other 4 screws hold it in place.

I also installed some 1mm adhesive foam tape between the panel and the filter box (my panel is 5mm but the design has a 6mm clearance) and on the filter compartment sides to avoid any air escaping from the sides of the filter.

All parts print fine with PLA at 0.2 layer height (0.4mm nozzle) without supports.

Sketchup source files are also provided in case you wish to make any modifications.
