I find the standard Tobii Eye Tracker under-monitor flex mount unattractive and insecure. I designed this mount to cleanly and securely affix the eye tracker to the front bezel of a flat or curved monitor.
Features
Fits Tobii Eye Tracker 5 by default but can be easily modified for 4C using included parametric model.
STL's for flat, 1000R, 1800R, 1700R, 1900R and 2300R monitors included.
Parametric SCAD file included so you can customize for any curvature or monitor configuration.
Contoured to the exact dimensions of the Tobii Eye tracker to blend in seamlessly.
Adhesive inset for super clean, secure mounting with no wobble. Modeled to fit standard 3M 10mm x 1mm double sided removable foam tape. You can modify the inset dimensions in the SCAD file if you prefer a different tape.
Modifying
Lots of comments in the SCAD file for making modifications.
Adjust curvature by setting curveRadius to 0 for flat monitors or any positive number corresponding with the curvature of your monitor.Â
Adjust flushness with the monitor by setting depth. You may want to adjust this for aesthetic reasons or if the cable is under strain form contact with the monitor bezel.
Adjust for fitment or for Tobii Eye tracker 4C by setting height and width. 4C dimensions are 335mm x 15mm.
Installation
Apply metal plate mounts to the flat surface of the mount. It's difficult to eyeball this so I recommend attaching the metal plate mount to the back of the eye tracker first, then removing the adhesive paper and last, aligning the eye tracker with the mount and pressing the two together. It's tricky to get perfect alignment so don't press until you're confident about alignment. The magnet may be stronger than the adhesive at first so you may have to press and hold for a while with significant force (careful not to damage the eye tracker). The metal plate does not sit along the centerline of the eye tracker so I don't recommend trying to eyeball it.
After affixing the metal plate, attach the mount to the monitor bezel while taking care to center the mount on the monitor and mind the orientation of the mount so you don't install it upside down. Press the mount into the bezel firmly for 30 seconds to secure the adhesive. The mount should be flush with the monitor bezel with no tape visible. If done right, the mount will almost look like a part of the monitor/eye tracker. Super clean!
Remember, if you use the recommended tape, this mount is easily removable with no residue! This makes this mount attractive to folks that might otherwise affix the metal plate mount directly to their flat monitor bezel since the default adhesive is not designed to be easily removed.
