WHAT IS IT?

I just got my P1P today, and I realized it needs a lot of space for depth because the spool sits on the rear of the printer. Not only does the printer need space behind it for the spool, you also need space to slide it onto the holder. Instead, I designed this model to be stuck (or screwed) to the wall next to the printer, allowing you to push your printer closer to the wall, close that huge gap, and use your space more efficiently. I do not recommend using XL rolls with this spool roller.

ADDITIONAL HARDWARE NEEDED

  • (OPTION 1) Strong double-sided tape (I used “T-Rex Extreme Mounting Tape”)
  • (OPTION 2) Screws

MY PRINT SETTINGS

I printed mine in PETG, 3 walls, 40% infill to make sure it was super strong. The rest was the default “Generic PETG” profile in OrcaSlicer. No supports!

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Slice and print one roller and one end cap.
  2. (OPTION 1) Clean the place on the wall where you'd like to stick the roller.
  3. Apply strong double-sided tape to back of the roller. I used four pieces at first, but that fell off after about 6 months, so instead I covered the entire surface with the double-sided tape.
  4. (OPTION 1) Firmly apply the roller to the wall, making sure all backings have been removed from the tape (if necessary). Keep in mind your placement; if you're wanting to put your printer next to this, ensure there's enough room for a roll of filament to fit.
  5. (OPTION 1) Place your roll of filament, snugly push the end cap on, and enjoy!
  6. (OPTION 2) Approximate the placement of the roller, keeping in mind the space needed when a spool is installed.
  7. (OPTION 2) Screw the roller to the wall.
  8. (OPTION 2) Place your roll of filament, snugly push the end cap on, and enjoy!
