Description

I recently designed an adapter to work with my iPhone 14 pro case using a lightning extender. It worked for the most part but unfortunately was still a problem on the other end of the controller causing random snaps and the phone to fall out. Moreover, the length of the adapter didn't leave any room to put some attachments on that end. So I designed something from scratch and came up with an elaborate part to fit any phone with cases.

It's a two-part design, the flat piece is the same size as the phone so the controller is stretched appropriately and the second part is an attachment to raise and hold the actual phone. To connect the phone and the controller you'd need a simple lightning extension cable, smaller the better. I ended up with this one from Amazon. Ideally, an L-shaped connector would work better and I could find one with a short length myself. Maybe if you have a Type C device you'd likely find it easily, like this one[ Update: I also found a 90-degree adapter to go with the cable]

Print Instructions:

  • 0.2-0.4 mm layer height
  • Print the parts in the orientation provided

Assembly instructions :

  • Slide the rise and lock it to the base as shown in the video above. Note that the riser is not flush with the base, it'll rest on the controller when stretched for better stability.
  • Put the slider inside the riser and fix it with a rubber band. The rubber band should rest on the hooks.
  • There are cable slots to fit the extension cable

The length of the base was designed with iPhone 14 Pro specifically and hasn't been tested with other devices. But worst case the length of the base might need to be adjusted if you have a longer phone.

Usage:

The adjustable mount was inspired by this Steam Controller Adjustment
