Description
I wanted to design a mounting system to modify commuter bikes to be more convenient and streamline the experience of someone biking with a laptop. This is my first attempt at the problem.
The models below are designed around the measurement of a 160mm length head tube and a 1 1/8 inch steering tube. But the lengths of the tubes can be changed accordingly.
Designed for .04 nosal tolerance hole for 0.5-inch tubing are 0.52 inches.
Bill of Materials:
½ inch diameter tubing aluminum prefered (I ended up using about 10 inches total). 2-inch cuts x 2 stem clap to bracket, 2.5-inch x 2 break spacer to bracket.
M3 threaded inserts for plastic, and M3 set screws 12 mm in length x 8 (optional soldering iron to insert the thread inserts.)
M3 Socket head Bolts x 2 (for the stem clamp)
3D printer, PLA or ABS
6-32 counter sunk mounting screws or nuts and bolts depending.
I made a commuter bag to mount on mine with a hard bottom shell, but the design is robust enough to hold a multitude of attachments.
