Description

BoM:

4 - M3 Screws ≥ 6.5mm long

4 - Washers (Optional)

1 - 80mm x 25mm 24VDC fan (12VDC works ok if you already have one)

Ability to solder 2 small wires together (or simply join them securely)

---

Difficulty: 4/10

Risk: 8/10

---

Instructions:

When this file is done printing, and at a GOOD QUALITY!!! (You may butcher your printer if you use a shoddy print) Screw out the 3, 2mm hex screws that attach the extruder shell and disconnect the fan, you will have to cut the wires on that fan for a good mod.

Once the case is off, using 2 of those m3 screws, screw in the print on the right side of the extruder.

Now is the dangerous part, cut a length of the original fans wires off, enough to where you feel comfy and then some. Do the same for the PC fan, and after putting some heat shrink if you have some, solder them together (BE SURE TO SOLDER THEM THE RIGHT WAY). If you don't have heat shrink or solder, use some Teflon tape and twist them together, or use a tasteful amount of hot glue if you have nothing else.

Put the 4 M3 Screws in the holes of the fan, and put the fan in the duct model while carefully screwing the nuts in with a hex wrench.

By the end of it you should have an amazing cooling solution that can bridge across the whole build plate DIAGONALLY. I tested this, the gcode file is attached.

Make sure to use a silicone sock!!! Your cooling will cool down the hotend way to much, and your printer will beep at you.

Thank you for reading this! If you do perform this mod, be sure to post a make.
