Description
These have been working surprisingly well, and will be updated as better designs are tested.
Please use all safety steps you would normally take when handling any firework.
Test video of a 16mm and 20mm
Works well with standard PLA. The tube can be reused several times.
There are two shell cap options, a twist on, and a snap on.
Try both and decide what works best for you. The twist caps work best with “slow flash” or BP burst. The snap caps work well with "fast flash"
DO NOT USE snap tops with impact sensitive flash.
Try the 20mm delay first. Use the 25mm delay if you want more hang time.
The offset delays allow you to glue a star/tail onto the base of the shell.
Both the shell and tube have a 3mm hole for the fuse. This will give a tight fit with 3mm diameter fuse. A tight fit on the shell's fuse is important to prevent hot gas from the lift charge setting off the shell in the tube.
2-3 grams of lift charge work well for me.
I print on standard quality with 100% infill.
The tool and base can use less infill.
Made in Tinkercad
Update: 12/25/23
Added V3 Threaded 20mm shells. The caps are much easier to thread on and off now.
Note: prototypes have had limited testing.
