Gamedore 2064

Handheld gaming console inspired by Commodore 64. Device is meant to be powered by Raspberry Pi (1 or 2) and Raspberry Pico for providing controls (d-pad and buttons) as USB-HID device.

Bill of material

I used the following components inside the device

• Raspberry Pi Zero with RetroPie distro
• Raspberry Pi 3.5" display with 480x320 resolution
• Raspberry Pi Pico as USB-HID device connected to:
  • D-pad component (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000681560472.html)
  • 6 silent buttons (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32653516999.html)
• Custom micro-USB to micro-USB (Pico to Zero) cable with these connectors (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32992732747.html)
• 18650 battery shield (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005993379022.html)
  • I desoldered the large USB port from the board to save some space
• Small 3mm led to act as power/activity indicator

Build Instructions

3D printable components: 

• The case consists of four larger pieces (front, front led panel, back plate and back cover
• 6 push buttons
• One directional D-pad

All models can be printed without support.

Components can be attached together with various M2 screws.

The buttons and D-pad will snap fit into place. Superglue could be used to secure those (at least the D-pad might need this).
