Description

This is the larger version. If you want to print the EURO Coin Sorting Vault on the Prusa Mini (18x18x18), you can find it here.

Rocco's Coin Sorting Vault is an absolute eye-catcher! Great design and perfect execution. Since I - and maybe you too - don't use US dollars but Euro, I created a Euro version.
It was a bigger challenge than I originally thought: Eight instead of four different coins! Especially since most of them only have minimal differences in diameter.

At the beginning, I had formulated the following three goals:

  1. When I insert 32 coins, 31 of them must be sorted correctly.
  2. If I insert the same coin 16 times, it must be sorted correctly 15 times.
  3. Throughout all changes, Rocco's design must be preserved as much as possible.

The result in the end:
All coins are sorted correctly in several hundred attempts.
The design of Rocco's vault is almost unchanged. The character of his model is fully preserved.

I made only one clearly visible expansion - inside the vault: The coin collection boxes are placed next to and beneath each other on two shelves. This has the advantage that you can remove and reinsert them individually. Additionally, you can place banknotes, gold bars, jewelry, etc., in the vault below. Burglars stand no chance anymore!

This remix includes all necessary parts except for those required for the vault door. No changes were necessary to them, and you can download them from Rocco's original version. At the opportunity, write him a thank you and give 5 stars for his model. He deserves it!!

Little side note: For the door, two dowels are provided. Instead of buying the metal version, you can also simply and quickly 3D print them. You can find them here.

*** UPDATE 6 - December 17, 2023 ***
Some comments mentioned that the 50-cent coin occasionally gets stuck and doesn't fall into the coin box. As a result, I have expanded EURO Coin Sled and EURO Sorter Frame for the four larger coins. Coins getting stuck should no longer be an issue.

*** UPDATE 5 - December 16, 2023 ***
Now there is an extension that allows you to lock the safe door with a padlock.

*** UPDATE 4 - December 14, 2023 ***
Info for those who want to increase the fun even more. There's now an interesting and at the same time very useful expansion: Coin Lift for Coin Sorting Vault. You can hardly sort your change faster!

*** UPDATE 3 - December 10, 2023 ***
If you like you can replace the original handle 1:1 with this alternative one.

*** UPDATE 2 - December 8, 2023 ***
I have attached an alternative version of the Euro Box: The box disassembled into several individual parts.
The reason for this approach is that the box is a very large part that, depending on the printer and print settings, takes ten or more hours to print. If something goes wrong during an unattended print, you would end up wasting a lot of filament.
There is another advantage: The box can be designed in any desired multi-color pattern.
However, you will need to assemble the box yourself after printing the individual parts. This requires a bit of skill.
If you decide to go for it, please read the attached PDF document where I describe the assembly process.

*** UPDATE 1 - December 6, 2023 ***
I corrected the labeling of the Coin Boxes. The top and bottom ones were swapped during the initial upload. Sorry about that.

Printing information

Read the following information carefully. You use quite a lot of filament for this model. It would be a shame if you produce waste because you haven't read important information.

Generaly

  • I use PLA for some parts, and PETG for others. I would print everything with PLA, but I don't have some colors.
  • All parts can also be printed with a 0.6mm nozzle. This is faster than using a 0.4mm nozzle.
  • For all parts, I use 10% Gyroid infill.
  • I use a 0.2mm first layer height for all parts.
  • All stl files are correctly aligned on the print bed.

Additional settings for the individual parts

- EURO Coin Sled /  EURO Sorter Frame
  • Used Brim type: Outer and inner brim

Special note for EURO Coin Sled: This is the crucial part for correct sorting. Use good filament that reproduces the shape well. Additionally, two bridges are printed. I skipped support here, as my chosen filament handles these areas well.

- EURO Coin Slot
  • Used Brim type: Outer brim only
- EURO Box (in one piece)
  • Layer height: 0.4mm (0.2mm works as well, of course. It just takes significantly longer.)
  • Support for the cutouts.

Note:
If you want to print and assemble the alternative version of the Euro Box, please read the attached PDF document.

- EURO Cover / EURO Shelves / Coin Boxes
  • Layer height: 0.4mm (0.2mm works as well, of course. It just takes significantly longer.)

Assembly instructions

I can't add anything to Rocco's excellent video tutorial.
While my parts are modified in detail, it doesn't change the basic process.

Rocco's vault door and my Euro version are assembled independently of each other. They fit together perfectly. Just make sure to insert or glue the shelves into the Euro box before attaching Rocco's vault door frame.

Note:
If you want to print and assemble the alternative version of the Euro Box, please read the attached PDF document.

I am looking forward to your Makes! :-)
