Some how the viral nail polish came across my reddit feed and I was intrigued… nail polish that uses magnets?! I thought this would be a cool surprise for my wife but all the posts I was reading were people having to make the “U” with the magnetic wands ($5x3=$15) or buying U shaped magnets and that was just one finger at a time. I thought… what if I made a magnet holder so she could do a whole hand!
I am by no means a 3D designer and this model needs improvements. I threw this together in tinkercad.
I printed 5 of these - which took no time at all and used barely any filament (great for those rolls of left over filament that you don't know what to do with), and I bought these 20mm x 10mm x 3mm magnets. The magnets can be removed for when not in use and there were enough magnets for 2 hands for less than it costs to make 1 “U” using the magnetic wands
I did not print with supports - even with the small bridge
I put the bottom magnet in and then hold another magnet on top of it and if it attracts I put that side facing in… if you do it right the side magnets “click” into place and stay holding on.
If you do not have access to a printer or your local library doesn't offer 3D printing (or you'd like to just buy a set), I sell these on my Etsy page - ShutYourTraps
