this is a scaled model of a healing hut from the northern tribe in animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender
it was modeld using the scenes from the episode “The Waterbending Master”
interior and exterior of the hut are modeled
it still has some parts that I would like to improve and repair in time (like some proportions that are not quite right)
Scene with the huts:
| DESIGN DECISIONS |
I used the people in scenes as a reference
the model was scaled to 1:60 scale so it can fit nicely on a standard 3D printing bed when printed in parts
parts snap together, but I would still use glue for the base tiles - the roof can stay unglued so that you can remove it and explore the interior of the hut
the model is sliced in a way that removes the need for most of the support
in the files there is also a 3D model of the whole hut in one piece if you want to print it that way - just make sure to use support for the roof
the ornaments on the inside of the walls are depicting the lunar phases. It is not perfectly aligned as it is shown in series, but it has some logic behind it - as there are 8 lunar phases, and 11 fields depicting it I thought that the most logical arrangement was so that the phases are on the sides, and the center position on the wall is always a standard water tribe emblem
so in the end i modeled 3 water tribe emblems and one entrence forming a cross while around them on the sides there are moon phases (8 of them)
on the bottom base there is an Avatar logo from the show

| PRINT SETTINGS |
it depends on the part you are printing and the quality you want to achieve
do not forget the supports for the small part of the lifted roof on the entrance, also I added some supports for the entrance itself - you can print withouth them, but the model won't look as nice.
all the parts are orineted correctly for FDM 3D printing
I have added my own 3mf files so you can see all the settings there
