Description
These are Icicle Decorations that one can stick to door or window-frames.
They are heavily inspired by the Magnetic (or stick on) Icicle decorations for doors or windows by fixumdude but are not a remix, so I hope it is ok if I upload the models here.
There are two versions of the files. One version has a hole at the bottom where a Ø6x2mm magnet can be glued in. This is practical for sticking the icicles to metal door frames. The other version just has a flat bottom. Use a small piece of double-sided tape to attach it to most surfaces.
The parts can be printed in vase mode, this creates a seamless print that saves filament. The other benefit is that the icicles are very light. So you don’t need a strong magnet/tape to attach them or worry that it hurts should they fall on someone.
Here is how to print in vase mode on Prusa Slicer 2.7:
Tick Spiral vase box under the Layers and perimeters setting. If you are printing the version with the magnets, make sure the bottom shell is about 2.6 mm thick. I printed mine with a layer height of 0.2 mm and had to use 13 bottom shells. It is best to print slowly, I used a printing speed of 20 mm/s. To make sure the long, thin icicles don’t topple over, use a brim.
Print in transparent PETG for the most realistic effect. White filament should look good too.
