Description

Allows to mount a wooden board to the desk very firmly and without any damage to the desk itself. After the initial installation, the board can be removed and reattached very quickly.

I designed the setup to hold my baby changing pad in place but you can easily use it for other applications as well e.g. attaching a wooden panel to protect your desk when you're doing some DIY work.

Components

Non-printable
  • 4x M6 screws with hex heads, 40-50mm long (or even longer for thicker desks).
  • 4x M6 nuts, 5mm high (mine were exactly 4.8mm)
  • 12 wood screws
Printable

A full set of 4 mounts requires 4 different types of components to be printed:

  • Mount base (4x): screwed into the board of whatever
  • Handle (4x): require M6 nuts to be inserted mid-print.
  • Clamps (2 mirrored versions)
    • Type A (2x)
    • Type B (2x)

Printing

Printing settings used by me:

  • Material: PETG
  • Nozzle: 0.6mm
  • 0.3 mm QUALITY profile
  • Thick bridges ON
  • Infill: 40%

The nuts for the handles need to be inserted mid-print. You should set the pause print breakpoint at the last layer of the gap where the nuts are supposed to be put in:

You can also take advantage of the 3mf file provided.

If the nuts don't go in easily, you can put them on screws to make pushing them in less cumbersome. Remember to remove the screws before resuming the print!

Assembly

  1. Insert M6 hex screw into the mount base. It's press-fit so this will require some force. Hitting the screw with a small hammer or a screwdriver shaft couple of times should get the job done.
  2. Use the wood screws to attach the mount base to the board that you want to mount to the desk. The mount bases should be screwed in just next to the edges of the desk
  3. Put the clamp over the mount base and screw in the handle to hold it in place.
  4. Repeat it 3 more times.
