Locking CD Player GPS/Phone Holder 17mm Ball Joint

This GPS/phone mount slides into the slot for your CD player and locks into place. Should work with any 17mm ball receptor like Garmin, etc.

Recommend using PETG, especially if you live somewhere hot. Do not recommend printing all parts at the same time as PETG is so stringy.

Print Tips:

1. The Balls will each need significant brims. 
2. The Big Part needs a little support; I've included the 3mf files that I used for all of them, and if you use PrusaSlicer, the supports are included. 
3. I used supports on the Small Part too but you may not need them.
4. Big Part and Small Part printed at .2 layer height & 15% Support Cubic infill with 3 perimeters.
5. Balls are also at .2 and have 5 perimeters and 15% Triangles infill.
6. External perimeters first.

Four Parts to Print:

1. Small Part: this is the insert that will move when you turn the screw to lock the mount into place.
2. Big Part: The large part of the holder with the ball mount part.
3. Knob: a knob that holds a 3mm hex-head cap screw - the kind with a round head.
4. Ball: choose a short stem or long stem.

Other Things You Will Need:

1. One (1) M3x35 Hex Socket Head Cap Screw. M3x25 will probably work too. 
2. Two (2) M3x6.5 heat press inserts. Or you can use an M3x8.5 on the Small Part, it will fit.
3. One (1) 4mm stick of some kind to be used as the hinge pin (aka Hinge Stick). I used “Treat Sticks” aka Cake Pop Sticks. Whatever you choose should be stiff and strong enough to not bend while in use, but cut-able so you can cut to fit the mount. You could try printing a 4mm stick as well.
4. Superglue

Instructions:

Print all of the parts.

• Put one heat set insert into the bottom side of the Knob.
• Put one heat set insert into the angled hole on the Small Part.
• Align the Big and Small parts, then thread the Hinge Stick through one side of the Big Part, through the Small Part, and through the other side of the Big Part. Cut off the ends of the Hinge Stick with an Xacto knife or small hacksaw. Be careful - you might want to put some blue painters tape on the Big Part so you don't scratch it. Once you've cut off the ends of the Hinge Stick, you can use a Sharpie or other marker to color in the sides so they match the color of your filament.
• Screw the Knob-with-screw into the angled hole on the Small Part.
• Insert the Ball into the hole on the front of the Big Part. Recommend a couple drops of Superglue.

To Use:

Insert the flat, ridged part into the CD player slot, then turn the screw until the Small Part raises up enough to lock it into place.
