Description
My wife wanted a quick and easy way to string up some xmas lights on the front porch railing. She found some plastic clips online, and of course I immediately said “I can do better than that!” I modeled these clips from scratch in tinkercad. Just bend them a bit to clip onto the railing or any 2" nominal (~1.6" or ~40mm, in reality) piece of lumber.
Note that lumber is not cut with strict tolerances, and your 2x4s might be a bit thicker or thinner than mine. I recommend printing one clip to test fitment, and scaling the rest by a few percent one way or the other if needed.
Printed in some generic ASA, which seems to work great. PETG would also work well. You want something with a bit of springiness to it. PLA might be too brittle - especially in very cold weather.
