Description

My little little girl is an artist. She paints, draws and makes beautiful things and this year she is making Christmas cards out of layered paper. To do this, she cuts shapes out of paper and lays them on top of each other until a picture is created. That gave me the idea to design this 3D-layered stag.

Size

The model has a size of 200 mm x 160 mm x 42.5 mm (HxLxD)

Printing

I printed the parts on my Prusa MK3S. The 3D files (3MF) are aligned so that you can print them directly. All parts can be printed without supports.

A 0.4 mm nozzle and a layer height of 0.20 mm with printer default settings for infill, etc. are sufficient for printing.

Assembly

The model has has eleven parts:

  • 8 panels that form the 3D image
  • 2 parts for the inner frame with guide rails for that hold the panels
  • and an overlay frame.

The overlay frame allows the picture to be hung on the wall.

The print data contains two types for the inner frame. One variant with pins, for a firmer connection of the inner frame, and one variant without.
The pin connection is not essential when using the overlay frame. If the overlay frame is not used, the pins are useful to make the frame more stable.

Remix

For remix or personal changes, you can also find the FreeCad model in the files.
