Seed starter for AeroGarden 3 and rockwool cubes

Replacement tray to use your AeroGarden 3 hydroponic system with seed starter plugs.

Instructions

This part replaces the top of the bowl in a AeroGarden 3 hydroponic kit. I've made two versions of the tray. One holds up to 16 Grodan 1.5" Rockwool cubes and for the other one, I was able to squeeze in 20. You would germinate your seeds in 1.5" rockwool cubes, the way you would normally. After they have sprouted, transfer them to this starter tray. Don't try to sprout them using the AeroGarden Bio-Domes.

The cubes are packed in pretty tightly so you can't keep them in the tray for very long or the roots will grow together. I'm using this to grow starters that'll be transferred into zipgrow hydroponic towers but you could just as easily use it for soil destined plants.

Notes:

Keep all the squares filled with cubes (use empty rockwood cubes if you have to) so that light won't be able to get into the bowl below the plants.

It was designed to exactly fit Grodan 1.5" rockwool plugs and probably will not work very well with anything that is not exactly that same shape and size.

One of the holes is directly over the air pump hose so the cube for that hole doesn't quite fit right. It'll either sit up as compared to the rest or need to be made a little smaller.
