Description
This isn't a remix, though I did see the same idea from multiple other users on Printables (whose names that I don't recall) and decided to make my own since the ones I saw were flat-topped instead of tapered or rounded. Now that I've finished and am uploading my own design, I see that there WERE other models that have the rounded tops…but I digress…
This is a 23mmx23mm pad that I designed to work with some .75" adhesive discs that I already had. I was inspired to look for a 3D-printed alternative for 3M's Dual Lock™ tape, as it is a little too strong of a hold for some applications for regular removal/replacement. My goal was to make a mounting pad that was of a similar thickness to this product after two pieces are snapped together and the double-stick adhesive is mounted to each side, and I ended up beating the purchased product in thickness by about .2mm (that is, the printed product is .2mm thinner), but your results may differ depending on the adhesion method. I suppose glue would also work and be even thinner.
I printed this in PETG at .2mm layer height and am surprised at how well it works. I've been snapping and separating the pieces regularly for about a week and no broken pegs yet, which I whole-heartedly expected to happen immediately. Not sure how PLA would fare. There is only one model, and it self-mates with itself perfectly when aligned straight-on, and even works at 90 degrees with a slight misalignment. Just copy and print as many pairs as you need.
